So M19 MEDIA is pitching a premier client in Wilmington that is, in our opinion, struggling with a timeless dilemma facing small businesses all over: price vs. value. A lot of small business owners are not familiar with the web and its capacity to drive business and build brands. They consequently go with the lowest price for web services. Many times they are doing themselves a disservice by doing so.

Choosing the lowest price may mean that the provider does not have the business (note we didn’t mention design) experience that can help that provider recognize business pain points and solve them based on what has worked in other situations. Some business owners choose the low-cost provider so that they retain complete control over the design process. Again, unless said business owner is in the design business, they are again doing themselves a disservice. Someone who is “just following orders” will be less likely to provide an innovative solution because, frankly, they’re not being paid to think.

If you can find a firm that provides sound advice, design skill and business experience that fits your budget, grab onto them.

So here we sit in between two bids: one very high from out of town, and another which we are guessing is really low. What to do?
