On October 23, 2009, Connie Bonner suffered a massive stroke that left her incapacitated. While her condition has improved, she needs constant care and is unable to work. Her income as a substitute teacher sustained the household and now that household is in jeopardy.

She was ineligible for insurance through her job and was unable to get private insurance due to her “pre-existing condition” of hypertension. The hospital bills have already topped $100,000; the family will go bankrupt.

But that's not what this site is about.

Connie's husband, Terry, who we will remember as Captain Bonner (10th Grade English)has his own health issues.  While their children (David and Irene) are doing all that they can to contribute to the household expenses, it is not enough. That is what this site is about.

It's about helping one of our own.  This is a Massanutten family; Terry and Connie met while teaching at MMA, and most of you visiting this site have interacted with one of them at some point during our “tours of duty”.

The Bonners need our help to make up the gap in their income. The need is dire. They face eviction and that would place Connie in a nursing home away from her family. Her chances of making a full recovery will be diminished if that happens.

Think about your own household expenses and what you would need to survive for two to three months: rent, phone, electricity, food, gas, medicine…the staples of modern life…this is what they need and this is what I am asking for on their behalf. My goal is to raise at least $3,500.00 to get them through the holidays and into the New Year. I created this micro site on my business server to make it easy for you to make a donation. No checks, no stamps…
just 15 seconds to help a family in need.

So I am asking you to donate whatever you can by clicking the “donate” button below. You’ll be taken to a secure Pay Pal site where you can enter your card information and send what you can to save one family from ruin. Terry has asked me to collect donations, so everything that we give will go to my PayPal account and I will forward the money to him and his family in Washington State. While it is not tax-deductible, you’ll be helping people that you know, people that have touched your life.  I’ll add our progress towards our goal here and keep you updated on Facebook.
